Indigenous community gathering with cultural connection

Indigenous Support Services

Honouring Culture. Strengthening Identity. Building Brighter Futures.

Our Indigenous Support Services are built on trust, dignity, and deep respect for identity, family, community, and culture. We walk alongside Indigenous individuals and families with humility and genuine care.

Who we support

Our Indigenous Support Services are available to Indigenous children, youth, adults, and families across Edmonton and the surrounding region. We welcome people from all Nations, communities, and backgrounds, and we are committed to providing support that feels safe, respectful, and genuinely responsive to who you are.

Culturally responsive, person-centred support

Our services are designed to honour the whole person — their identity, their relationships, their community, and their goals.

Cultural & Community Connection

Supporting individuals in connecting with Elders, cultural organizations, community events, and resources that strengthen cultural identity and belonging.

Youth & Family Support

Providing support for Indigenous youth and families navigating challenges, building strengths, and working toward stability and well-being.

Life Skills & Independence

Building practical everyday skills — budgeting, cooking, household management, transportation — in a way that respects individual goals and cultural context.

Education & Employment

Helping individuals explore education and employment pathways, develop workplace readiness, and connect with training and community resources.

Community Engagement

Supporting participation in community activities, cultural events, and social opportunities that build connection and a sense of belonging.

Family & Caregiver Support

Providing support and relief for families and caregivers, recognizing the central role of family and community in Indigenous ways of life.

Our approach

Everything we do is guided by six core principles that shape how we show up for Indigenous individuals and families.

Respect

We honour the dignity, identity, and lived experience of every person we support — without judgment, without assumption.

Cultural humility

We approach every relationship with openness and a genuine commitment to learning. We do not claim to speak for any community or culture.

Person-centred support

The individual's goals, preferences, and voice are at the centre of everything we do. Support is built around the person, not the program.

Family & community connection

We recognize the importance of family, community, and cultural relationships, and we work to strengthen — not replace — those connections.

Empowerment

Our role is to walk alongside, not to lead. We support people in building their own confidence, skills, and self-determination.

Inclusion

We create environments where people feel safe, respected, heard, and genuinely welcomed — regardless of background, ability, or circumstance.
